Gordon "SID" Cowans is still at the club working in the Youth Academy and his playing career spanned 15 years in the Claret & Blue, currently lying in 3rd of all time appearances for Aston Villa.

Cowans was one of the best left side midfielders in Britain during the 70's and early 80's known for his pin point passes from literally anywhere from 30 to 40 yards away and was capped 10 time by England.

He was a key cog in the Villa engine room helping the team win the 1977 League Cup, 1st Division title in 1981 and the European Cup and European Super Cup in 1982.
