Jimmy Rimmer was signed for £65,000 from Arsenal in 1977. He was a top class keeper and Villa’s Number 1 for six years, and part of the team that won the League Championship in 1981/82, the European Cup (although he had to go off injured early in the Final), and European Super Cup.

Jimmy made 285 appearances in all competitions for the Villa. He won one senior cap for England before his time with the Villa.

He left in 1983 on a free transfer to Swansea City.
